Why mobile grooming
Mobile grooming is built for busy suburban families, senior pets, anxious dogs, multi-pet homes, and clients who want the groom handled without losing an afternoon to drop-off and pickup.
Route-based appointments fit around school, work, sports, and Naperville traffic.
Less lifting, less travel, padded surfaces, breaks, and practical comfort trims.
Fewer transitions, fewer dogs nearby, and a known groomer every visit.
Same-address scheduling and clear multi-pet discount rules.
Services
Every appointment starts with the pet in front of Megan: size, coat condition, behavior, age, medical notes, and what is humane that day.
Maintenance bath for small dogs who do not need a haircut.
Dogs up to 20 lb
Full haircut for doodles, poodles, bichons, Portuguese water dogs, and curly or wavy coats.
Curly/wavy-coated dogs of all sizes
Gentle first grooming visit for puppies where confidence matters more than perfection.
Puppies 10 weeks to 6 months with age-appropriate vaccines
Modified grooming for pets who need slower pacing, extra breaks, non-slip support, quiet handling, or shorter practical haircuts.
Senior dogs, anxious dogs, rescues, pets with limited mobility
Quick nail trim for dogs who tolerate paw handling safely.
Dogs of most sizes by temperament
Coat-release upgrade combining de-shedding shampoo, conditioner, high-velocity drying, and structured undercoat removal.
Labs, shepherds, huskies, corgis, goldens, Aussies, and similar coats
Cat grooming policy
Prairie Paws does not offer cat grooming at launch. Cat nail trims or sanitary shaves may be considered later after additional feline-specific certification and equipment changes.

Meet your groomer
Megan Hartley is the owner and groomer behind Prairie Paws Mobile Grooming Co. A Naperville native with 11 years of grooming experience, Megan specializes in calm, practical grooming for family dogs, doodles, seniors, and anxious pets. She founded Prairie Paws to give local pet owners a more personal alternative to busy salons: one groomer, one van, one pet at a time, right at home.

Megan Hartley
Owner-groomer
Megan founded Prairie Paws after more than a decade of grooming dogs across DuPage County. Her background includes salon work, mobile grooming training, formal grooming education through the Paragon School of Pet Grooming, PetTech pet CPR and first aid certification, and continuing education in low-stress handling and coat maintenance. At Prairie Paws, Megan answers questions, books appointments, parks the van, greets the dog, completes the groom, and sends follow-up notes. That consistency is intentional.
“Megan believes grooming works best when the pet is not treated like a ticket number. Mobile grooming lets her slow down, work one-on-one, and create a predictable experience for dogs who do poorly in crowded salons or need a less disruptive appointment day.”

Service area
15 miles from 1732 Wexford Circle, Naperville, IL 60564. Prairie Paws clusters appointments by neighborhood to reduce travel time and keep appointment windows realistic.
Naperville route center
1732 Wexford Circle, Suite B, Naperville, IL 60564
Administrative suite for mail, storage, laundry, and product inventory. Not a public grooming salon and no walk-in appointments.
Neighborhood cues
The grooming van needs a flat, legal parking space at or near the home. Driveways are preferred. Curbside parking must be safe, level, and not block traffic, mailboxes, hydrants, sidewalks, or HOA-restricted areas.
Limited: Downtown Naperville streets with tight curb parking, apartment buildings without van access, and areas requiring paid commercial parking.
Excluded: Chicago city appointments, O'Hare/Midway airport zones, rural properties with unsafe driveways, and locations beyond 22 miles unless preapproved.
Demo testimonials
These demo testimonials are fictional examples for presentation. They avoid medical claims and focus on convenience, calm handling, clean van experience, and owner trust.
“Our senior dog did so much better without the car ride and lobby noise. Megan explained the plan first and sent notes afterward.”
“The van was clean, quiet, and right in the driveway. Our doodle came back tidy without spending half the day at a salon.”
“We have an anxious rescue, and the one-on-one setup made the appointment feel manageable instead of stressful.”
FAQ
Policies are written plainly so clients understand vaccines, matting, cancellations, weather, fleas, aggressive pets, and what they need to provide.
No. The grooming van is self-contained for most appointments with its own tub, warm water, drying system, and equipment. Shore power may be requested in certain extreme weather conditions.
For safety and space reasons, clients do not stay in the van. Megan discusses the plan before the appointment and sends follow-up notes afterward.
Prairie Paws works with nervous and anxious dogs when it is safe and humane. Dogs with serious bite risk, extreme panic, or unsafe handling needs may be referred to a veterinarian or specialized behavior groomer.
Most doodles and curly-coated dogs do best every 4-6 weeks. Double-coated dogs often benefit from 6-8 week maintenance during shedding seasons. Short-coated dogs may be comfortable every 8-12 weeks.
Mild tangles may be brushed out if comfortable. Severe matting is handled with a humane comfort clip rather than painful dematting. Prairie Paws explains options before proceeding.
Dogs must be current on rabies vaccination as required by local law. Puppies must have age-appropriate vaccines.
Prairie Paws does not knowingly groom pets with active flea infestations. If fleas are discovered, the appointment may stop, a flea bath fee may apply, and the van is sanitized before the next client.
No. Prairie Paws does not offer cat grooming at launch. Cat services may be considered later after additional feline-specific certification and equipment changes.
