About Riverbend

Two owner-operators, one practical promise.

Riverbend began as an idea after a July 2023 storm cleanup in Ashburn. Elena and Marcus were working for separate contractors on adjacent properties when they coordinated debris staging, plant triage, and homeowner communication around the same cul-de-sac. They saw the same market gap: homeowners wanted more professionalism than a casual mower and more local attention than a franchise.

Why this business exists

Northern Virginia customers often choose between impersonal chains and inconsistent small operators. Riverbend is built for the middle: plant judgment, field craftsmanship, scheduling discipline, documented work, and clear communication.

Co-Founder & Landscape Director

Elena Marquez

Elena is a Northern Virginia native with more than a decade across garden centers, residential crews, enhancement teams, and practical plant selection. She helps customers choose landscapes that fit clay soil, humidity, deer pressure, sun exposure, HOA expectations, and real maintenance capacity.

Good landscaping should make your home feel cared for before anyone even reaches the front door.
  • Plant selection and planting plans
  • Bed layouts and curb-appeal packages
  • Lawn-health recommendations
  • Pruning, mulching, and install quality walks

Mission & Differentiators

Premium-reliable, not luxury-only.

We help your yard look clean, healthy, and cared for without making you chase your landscaper.

Mission

To make Northern Virginia properties easier to care for, more enjoyable to live with, and more professionally maintained through reliable service, thoughtful landscape decisions, and clear communication.

Vision

By 2031, Riverbend aims to operate 5-7 crews across western Fairfax and Loudoun County with strong residential maintenance, selective curb-appeal installs, light-commercial accounts, and in-house certified turf capability.

Show up prepared

Every visit has a clear scope, the right equipment, and a crew that knows the property expectations.

Leave it cleaner

Edges, gates, patios, walkways, driveways, and debris cleanup matter as much as the main service.

Recommend what fits

Plans should match the property, budget, sunlight, soil, irrigation, HOA rules, and maintenance tolerance.

Communicate first

Weather delays, schedule changes, and scope questions are handled before customers have to chase.

Protect the property

Crews respect gates, pets, irrigation heads, lighting, vehicles, siding, windows, and neighbors.

Build local trust

Riverbend would rather grow through reliable routes and referrals than overpromise.

FAQ

Practical answers before the estimate.

The page handles common concerns early: weather, gates, insurance, HOAs, payment, regulated treatments, snow scope, plant warranty, and estimate timing.

Do I need to be home for service?

No. Most maintenance can be completed without you home if gates are unlocked or codes are provided, pets are indoors, and vehicles or items are not blocking work areas.

Do you offer one-time mowing?

Sometimes, but recurring maintenance clients receive priority. One-time mowing has a $125 minimum and overgrown lawns may require a surcharge.

What happens if it rains on my service day?

Routes shift based on turf conditions and safety. Riverbend does not mow saturated lawns if it will cause ruts or damage, and customers receive updates when weather changes timing.

Are you licensed for fertilization and weed control?

Riverbend is building its in-house licensing program. Until all required Virginia licensing is complete, regulated pesticide applications are performed only by properly licensed professionals or referred partners.

Do you work with HOAs?

Yes. Riverbend helps homeowners maintain HOA-ready properties and offers small HOA common-area packages with written scopes, insurance certificates, and service documentation.

Do you install patios and retaining walls?

Riverbend handles small paths, stepping-stone walkways, gravel areas, and simple garden walls when appropriate. Larger patios, structural walls, engineered drainage, and permit-heavy work use vetted partners.

Do you remove trees?

Riverbend plants small and medium trees and handles light ornamental pruning. Large tree removal, hazardous limbs, stump grinding, and climbing work are referred to qualified tree companies or arborists.

Do you offer snow removal?

Yes, but only limited snow and ice service at launch. Existing clients and small commercial entrances receive priority. Riverbend is not taking large parking-lot snow contracts in its first season.

Do you guarantee plants?

Riverbend offers a 90-day limited plant warranty when Riverbend installs the plants and customers follow watering instructions. Extended options may be available with maintenance or watering services.

How quickly can I get an estimate?

Most maintenance and cleanup estimates are delivered within 2 business days after a site visit. Design-install estimates usually take 3-5 business days depending on scope.

How do you handle dogs and gates?

Customers should keep pets indoors during visits and provide gate instructions. Crews treat gates as a safety checkpoint and report access issues before work continues.

What payment methods do you accept?

Maintenance requires card or ACH on file. Riverbend also accepts credit card, debit card, ACH, and checks for approved commercial accounts. Install projects use staged deposits and final payment.
